08/13/15 - Midweek session on Law

Read Romans 8: 1-9
1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:...

Open discussion answering several questions about LAW:

1. What place has law in CS?
Law is the backbone of CS. "The term Science, properly understood, refers only to the laws of God and to His government of the universe, inclusive of man." (S&H) - inclusive of man could mean the activity of man is law in operation. For example, "Be a law unto yourselves that mental malpractice cannot harm you either when asleep or when awake." (S&H)

2. What has law got to do with Love?
Principle and Love are often used together in the textbook. Love is the motive-power behind God's law. The commandments are to love God and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Nothing more basic than that.

3. What has law got to do with CS treatment?
Treatment is the enforcement of God's law in the healing of sickness and sin. This is done through affirmation of Truth, God's law, and denial of the false law - that which is not of God.

4. How can we differentiate law from false law?
"The distinction between that which is and that which is not law, must be made by Mind and as Mind. Law is either a moral or an immoral force. The law of God is the law of Spirit, a moral and spiritual force of immortal and divine Mind. The so-called law of matter is an immoral force of erring mortal mind, alias the minds of mortals." (Misc. Wr.)

5. How can we break His law?
"We break the law when we believe that evil is as real as good, for this is a false sense which sees only the inverted image and not the true idea of God; hence it prevents us from reflecting the healing Truth, having but one God and loving our neighbor as ourself." (MBE - from Blue Book)

Closed appropriately with:
"There's a wideness in God's mercy, Like the wideness of the sea;
There's a kindness in His justice, Which is more than liberty..." (Hymn 340)
