When Jesus said “Ye shall know the truth and the truth will make you free.” he was most certainly not referring to the results of a typical internet search!
This search will provide different results depending upon who is asking and when, or more precisely, based upon the recorded activity of who the search engine thinks the user is. This might be disconcerting and yet it reflects the fickle nature of the human condition. Seeking the truth in the world around us quickly descends into the realm of probability, for it is impossible to really nail it down! Yes, even the physical sciences are subject to “to err is human”, and the society that bows down to “science” as the purveyor of truth will be constantly misled.

The truth Jesus was referring to is divine, not human. A glimpse of this truth was captured in the Declaration of Independence when it declared “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” This did not reflect the state of the Union! but it had a huge impact on its development, unmatched in human history.

Similarly, the following are not the result of empirical evidence, not human, but they lead to the freedom Jesus spoke about (and if they receive the same disdain as Jesus did when he first introduced the statement, then perhaps we are on the right track!) :

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor sub-

stance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite

manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal
Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and

eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is

God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore

man is not material; he is spiritual. (S&H)
