Muckety mucks wouldn't listen anyway

This morning in my reading John 4 - Jesus was chatting with a Samaritan woman by a well. The Samaritans were considered heretics essentially, so Jesus as a Jew was crossing the line of political correctness. The Samaritans worshipped God in the mountain tops, while the Jews considered Jerusalem THE place for worshipping.

In this interchange, Jesus made the earth-shaking declaration: “The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” It is not in Jerusalem, not in Mecca, not from the mountain tops nor in the Ganges river, not in churches, synagogues, mosques, temples - no, no, no! God is seeking us to worship Him in truth and in spirit - right here at the door of consciousness.

The group thing may have its place, but worshipping God is definitely not a group thing, nor has it anything to do with a physical location. This Jesus announced to this "second-class woman" - not to muckety mucks. And here, almost 2000 years later, we hear the message loud and clear - if we will listen!
