Where is my God?

It is not unusual for someone to turn to God for help and get no answer. “Where is my God?" one may ask.

A good way to find one's God is to answer the questions: “What most absorbs my thought? Where do I look most earnestly for security, for satisfaction?”

If the answer comes back something like: 30% business, 30% family, 20% health… 1% things spiritual/God, simple math explains that the God one may have been praying to is not his God in practice.

Is not this why Jesus taught: "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on... But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."?

Obviously this does not mean that we should not eat, drink and wear clothes! but it does address where the preponderance of thought should be, on God, our Intelligence, our Soul, our very Life. Not that we remain on our knees in a state of prayer, but acknowledge Him in all our ways, whether at work or at play, turn to Him for guidance, thank Him for all the good, look to Him when confronted with evil - even while we are about our daily activities.

In a word, “Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thought.” S&H Is not this “In Him we live and move and have our being” in practice
