Living it instead of believing in it

This morning I opened to Paul's letter to the Colossians chapter 2. If this is not a warning of church organization, I don't know what is! This is what I get:

"As you have received the Christ, Truth, use it.

Watch that your inspiration be not dampened by church blab - talking about Christ, Truth, is quite different from speaking Truth, addressing the immediate need.

Watch that you be not pushed around by judgmental religionists who, mentally or otherwise, lay a guilt trip on you for what you eat or drink, church attendance, etc.

Watch that you don't be impressed by that holy feeling in church services ('beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels') which tends to nurture self-righteousness and does nothing for spiritual growth.

Watch that you do not take on a culture of do's and don'ts which leads to 'a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility.'"

My allegiance is to Principle, not person - obedience to my own understanding - getting rid of all "doing because I'm supposed to" - at first it is a little daunting, getting rid of "mental crutches," but then it is energizing, and "makes all things new."
