One God obliterates partisanship

The current state of our world is one of partisanship. Everywhere there is pressure to align with either the left or the right of the political spectrum. You would be hard pressed to find a news report or commentary that does not have a distinctive partisan tone. How unnatural and absurd to think that there are only two ways to think - a kind of magnetism to either the left or the right!

The definition of “adversary” in Science and Health begins “An adversary is one who opposes, denies, disputes, not one who constructs and sustains reality and Truth.” A fitting description of the outcome of partisanship, adversaries? Not constructive!

What is to be done about this unhealthy atmosphere? Instead of being caught up in the right and the wrong of the narrative, turn away from the personal view to Truth, God: “One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself;’ ” (S&H) Holding thought to this expansive(!) view will do far more than becoming embroiled in partisanship.

If we are faithful in this, perhaps we will catch a glimpse of what Mary Baker Eddy arrived at:
"I once thought that in unity was human strength; but have grown to know that human strength is weakness, —
that unity is divine might, giving to human power, peace." (Misc. Wr.)
