There is a growing awareness that collecting “stuff” is costly, even detrimental to health. Is it a coincidence that our country has become saturated with storage units at the same time that obesity has become epidemic? The Bible admonition, “God requireth that which is past” could very well be the answer to the rampant obesity.
The following passage from our textbook introduces a breath of fresh air into the current conversation: "The true theory of the universe, including man, is not in material history but in spiritual development. Inspired thought relinquishes a material, sensual, and mortal theory of the universe, and adopts the spiritual and immortal.”
Letting go of resentments for past wrongs, hurts from disappointed love, bucket loads of memories, we feel a freedom. We are no longer locked into to our own personal, myopic viewpoint, desparately trying to please people. We begin to discover our rightful heritage as the idea of divine Principle, to feel the security of building on the Rock - dropping our baggage so that we may follow Christ in the Way.
