Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. How does the creature, the wildcat, whale, bird, etc., navigate without a GPS? How does it know what to eat and where to find it, what to avoid, when to prepare for inclement weather? What stimulates its individuality, and manages its place in the grand ecosystem? To stop and consider the intelligence and creativity expressed throughout our world can be an awesome, humbling experience.
Consciousness, individuality, intelligence - scientists are still at a loss. A recent headline in the Daily Mail (UK) reports: “CERN to test world's most powerful particle accelerator during April's solar eclipse to search for ‘invisible’ matter that secretly powers our universe.” Are we nearing a time when scientists finally have physical evidence of God? We think not. God is Spirit, Love, Mind which has no semblance of matter.
Christ Jesus clearly stated, “It is the spirit which quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing.” In this context, one might consider how he regarded creation. Mary Baker Eddy did just that in her revelation of the Science underpinning Jesus’ life and work. Following is an excerpt from her textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures:
“Which institutes Life, — matter or Mind? Does Life begin with Mind or with matter? Is Life sustained by matter or by Spirit? Certainly not by both, since flesh wars against Spirit and the corporeal senses can take no cognizance of Spirit. The mythologic theory of material life at no point resembles the scientifically Christian record of man as created by Mind in the image and likeness of God and having dominion over all the earth.”
I have no doubt it will not be long before "the mythologic theory of material life" will be an accepted view of the current thought on material life.
As we consider the wonder of creation, would we not be in a better place to stand in awe and gratitude for God’s mighty love, rather than to fear that everything is extremely fragile due to its random, non-intelligent origin? Would we not be more able to correct imbalances in the ecosystem by striving to align ourselves with the Creator and listening for guidance rather than playing God without any of the qualifications, the insanity of which is exemplified by those who are calling for the depopulation of the world in order to save the planet!
It only takes a moment to observe a magnificent bird, with distinct plumage and perfect detail, hopping from branch to branch, and then flying off at will, to turn our heart to the Almighty and acknowledge Him.
