Inspiration on demand

A common thought is that inspiration has a mind of its own, so to speak, and appears on its own terms. In other words, you cannot call it up on demand. But if Spirit, God, is the source of inspiration, surely we can expect more than randomness. What might be the principle behind inspiration?

I once asked my teacher how she was able to speak week after week, month after month, year after year, with such fresh inspiration - it never got old. She said simply that she looked out at the audience, and asked God what was the need. From that standpoint, whatever she had prepared submitted to answering that immediate need.

How fascinating, to think that our inspiration be defined by the need at hand. Of course this is dependent upon the love that is present, that is willing to recognize the need and be willing to meet it. Jesus the Wayshower certainly lived that way.

“Love for God and man is the true incentive in both healing and teaching. Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way.” (S&H) Under this mode of operation, we can expect inspiration to be available on demand, and we should settle for nothing less.
