After suffering for over a year with a persistent bronchial infection that rendered her exhausted all the time (the doctors were of little help), unable to attend to her young family by herself, a woman called me from across the Atlantic for some words of encouragement. We spoke for a few minutes. Within a week or two, she recovered, regained her strength, and was able to return to her duties. She recalled what caught her attention from our conversation. After describing her situation to me, I had responded with: "That is not right!" It was the turning point for her, as, for the first time, she rebelled against the tyranny of the nasty disease. Prior to this, she had accepted the symptoms as legitimate.
In Science and Health, there are three pages of "command statements" that can help one rebel against the aggressive nature of disease.
