Building on sand or rock?

The trap - contentment without an acknowledgement of God, Spirit. What's so bad about that? It indicates another god. Where there is no acknowledgement of God, there is a vacuum to be filled, and it is filled with idolatry, the worship of some material god.

If love is not of God, it is of person, or some object, or perhaps an animal...

If intelligence is not of God, it is of person, or some institution, or some computer system/robot...

If law is not of God, it is of some government, or some church...

If substance is not of God, it is of some financial asset, or some paycheck, or some government entitlement...

If truth is not of God, it is of some person, some news media!, some church organization...

...and so on.

In all these cases, trust is in some limited, fallable thing which may be here today, but beyond that we cannot be sure. Furthermore, it denies a higher Principle, a higher Intelligence, a universal Love.

Jesus said plainly: "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

"No wisdom is wise but His wisdom; no truth is true, no love is lovely, no life is Life but the divine; no good is, but the good God bestows." (S&H) Acknowledgement of  this, in our contentment, we stand on the Rock, Christ.
