Spiritual freedom - not what you may think

Christ Jesus exemplified spiritual freedom because of his sole allegiance to his heavenly Father. He never bowed down to social pressures, not to his family,  his followers, the religionists, the powers that be. His only moral obligation was to his Father. Yes, he hurt a lot of people’s feelings and got flack for it, but his was to say and do as he was given, even up to the cross. This spiritual freedom enabled his resurrection and ascension, atonement, and the monumental legacy he left for all mankind. Think of it!

Jesus knew with all his being that God is All-knowing, All-loving, All-wise, and there is no doubt he intended us to follow in the Way. “There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.” These were not idle words but indicated an absolute trust that when we put Him first and let nothing else hold us hostage, the greatest blessing will follow, for us and all impacted by our faithfulness. Would the All-knowing, All-loving, All-wise have it any another way?

In the following, Paul identifies the carnal mind as the greatest impediment to spiritual freedom:
“to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.” (Romans 8)

The Scientific explanation: “Man is tributary to God, Spirit, and to nothing else. God's being is infinity, freedom, harmony, and boundless bliss. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Like the archpriests of yore, man is free "to enter into the holiest," — the realm of God.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures)
