The moral basis of existence

God’s will be done - personal sense be damned. (personal sense: self-satisfaction, self-righteousness, self-importance)  Jesus explained in the Sermon on the Mount: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. “

Since God is good, the Creator and Intelligence of the universe, would it not follow that the primary moral demand of existence is the acknowledgement of God in all our ways, to strive to align ourselves to His purpose? More often than not, this is not happening, in fact God is relegated to the back seat so that man can busy himself with doing good, caring for the flock, spreading the word and achieving great things. God is an increasingly remote topic because He is Spirit, and the world has been sinking deeper and deeper into the matter/flesh model where Spirit has no place.  The perception of mankind is that it is rising higher and higher to technological and scientific heights, even while it sinks into denial of the moral basis of existence.

The result is evident today. Health and longevity are taking quite a hit, global human trafficking rampant, drugs killing more in the US than all foreign wars, etc. The intoxication of man’s worldly advancements is blinding him to the evident decline of civilization.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” (Galations 6)

“[Real] Christianity causes men to turn naturally from matter to Spirit, as the flower turns from darkness to light. Man then appropriates those things which "eye hath not seen nor ear heard." Paul and John had a clear apprehension that, as mortal man achieves no worldly honors except by sacrifice, so he must gain heavenly riches by forsaking all worldliness. Then he will have nothing in common with the worldling's affections, motives, and aims.“ (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy)
