  • 01/13/16 - What does brick and mortar do for a church?

    The "brick and mortar" of a church materializes the concept of church and tends to atrophy the spiritual growth of its congregants.

    The impetus required for constructing a building is admirable - the money, time and dedication to a purpose, but future generations are robbed of the opportunity, and tend to take for granted the committment required.

  • Guilt-trips forbidden

    This morning I opened to this:

    "The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath." (Mark)

  • Muckety mucks wouldn't listen anyway

    This morning in my reading John 4 - Jesus was chatting with a Samaritan woman by a well. The Samaritans were considered heretics essentially, so Jesus as a Jew was crossing the line of political correctness. The Samaritans worshipped God in the mountain tops, while the Jews considered Jerusalem THE place for worshipping.

  • Who can I trust?

    Let's see now.

    Can I trust the media to inform me what is true? If you ask ten people about what they saw of an incident, you get ten different versions of "reality." If the media agrees on anything, you can be sure it is a narrative guided by those who have decided what you should think - not too reliable!
